Happy Birthday Mattie!

I think we had record heat for Mattie's birthday! It was very close to 100 degrees in the OC, so we hit up the Spectrum to play in the kiddie water areas. By the end of it all, Mattie was soaked so she probably felt cooled off, but we were still sweating hot... We have a ONE year old!!!

Thursday... a day of teething and grins...

After waking at 5:45AM, Mattie finally goes back to sleep w/ me around 7... then at 9 she wakes and says "What are you looking at? Didn't you know, heroin shiek is the new look?"
Then we finally go out and get her the birthday present she has been waiting for (a few days early, but I was sooo over the teething agony/cranky child thing all day!) So she's happy for now.. until her teeth start bothering her again...

Cousin Kate turns ONE!

The heat wave sticks around long enough for Kate's Bday on Sunday.... Mattie isn't sure about getting back in the cold baby pool though... she stayed in for about 5 seconds then decided she'd rather hang out on the outside and look in...

Mattie enjoyed reading Kate's birthday cards, while sitting on cousin Laurie's lap.. Notice the birthday girl in the background, asleep, while her mom opens her gifts for her ;)
Finally, Mattie decided she was going to push the baby stroller all around the living room for all the guests to see... even when she fell, she hung on to that stroller, if she went down, the stroller went down w/ her... I think she may want one of her own???

Denise turns 30!

The ladies sit out back and enjoy the heat for a little while... except Mattie did not get a big girl margarita to help cool her off ;(
Then Mattie moves inside to play w/ daddy and Jeff and BF Aaron. Notice Mattie removed her party hat sooner than everyone else ;)

The start of a long, hot weekend...

We enjoyed a walk at Huntingon Beach w/ Sylvie and Nadine where it was a little bit cooler, until Mattie's mouth started bleeding from one of her four teeth that decided to come in at once...

Our favorite park, Bill Barber, again...

Mattie checks out some crunchy purple flowers at the park... she really liked shaking them around and feeling the strange texture in her hands. This was on Thursday, before the massive heat wave arrived...

I wish my BFF lived in Orange County!

Mattie has had a great time playing with her BFF, Tatum over the last few days. First they met up with their other BFF, Aubrey, for a mid-week play date while the mommies chatted over breakfast on Thursday. Then they got to play again on Saturday and Mattie tried to teach Tatum how to walk... We secretly think Tatum knows how, she is just shy in front of people ;)
